Old English Charm

This English-style stone and stucco Homeland house had plenty of charm but lacked comfort. While the majority of the existing first floor rooms were large and gracious, the original kitchen was cramped and functionally inefficient. To remedy this we re-imagined some existing under-utilized spaces into a new gourmet, restaurant-quality kitchen. Like most Homeland houses, there was a formal living room but no informal space to gather and relax. We worked with the owners to add a library to gain this much needed informal living space which opens to the new kitchen.

From the one-and-a-half-story diamond-pane leaded-glass window to the steep pitch of the slate roof, the details of the new work draw their character from the existing house to create an addition that fits seamlessly with the original. The addition is a perfect blend of old English charm with modern functionality.
